History of Ware, Massachusetts

by Arthur Chase.  294 pages, including index, plus many good quality photographs of this Hampshire County, MA community.  This is an impressive town history, published as it was (in 1911) by the Cambridge University Press and authored at the request of the Town sesquicentennial committee by Fr. Chase, who was the Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church. 

The volume includes abundant of source documents, so it's not just one man's opinion. We think getting this one out and available to the history and genealogy community should be a priority -- and so do several others who have told us that we need to publish this one. 

Sorry!!  This project is on hold for the time being.

Here's why:

Between the Lakes Group purchased a copy of this book in what appeared to be superb condition.  Most of the pages were not even cut. 

Well, so much for obvious signs of a mint condition book!

Some malefactor had carefully excised (i.e. removed) many of the plates from the book, including one that the author refers to as "The Map" -- obviously central to understanding the history of Ware.  Further, adding insult to injury, the perpetrator had also removed a few pages surrounding one of the missing plates.

Meanwhile, we are furnishing a copy of the index of the History of Ware here for your use in determining whether the book contains what you are looking for.
