Quarter Millennial PLUS is a CD-ROM of documents of historical and genealogical interest from and about the Town of Suffield, Hartford County, CT. A few of the items are quite rare. The collection includes the following Suffield items: 1. Celebration of the Two Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary of the Settlement of Suffield Connecticut, October 12, 13, and 14, 1920, with sketches from its past and some record of its last half century and of its present. 253 pages, plus our new 35 page index.
Originally published 1921 by the authority of the General Executive Committee.
The alternative name of this book is Suffield Quarter Millenial. We
have scanned and indexed this 253 page book (text and pictures) as the original book contained no index at all, although the book
contains a wealth of names
which should be of particular interest to people researching family history in
the area. We think our index is a major improvement. Indexing
took a long time, and we appreciate your patience -- and the
encouragement you gave us -- while we slogged through the process! Please
The book is a wonderful compendium not only of what happened at Suffield's 250th anniversary (including the programs for the Suffield Pageant, the Hostess House, and other portions of the celebration -- we've seen these small sections of this book selling in the $15 - $35 range on eBay recently), but also lists of Suffield veterans of all wars through World War I, a lengthy history of Suffield (it's interesting that Suffield was in its early years part of Massachusetts), specifics about many of Suffield's stock of great old houses, the Suffield School (formerly the Connecticut Literary Institution), local businesses, professionals, and organizations, and a wealth of other minutiae that would be impossible to assemble today. The book includes many photographs, both of individuals and of buildings. We've included the photos in their original places in the book, but have also included them separately as high-resolution scans for those who wish to reproduce them and perhaps frame them. 2. The 1948 Sagitta, the yearbook of Suffield High School. This volume contains 56 pages with abundant photographs, plus many autographs. We've developed a list of the surnames that appear in this volume and are happy to provide it here for your reference.
3. An article from The Connecticut Quarterly about the history of Suffield. 4. The Suffield pages from The Connecticut Guide. 4. The 1924 Year Book and Church Directory of the First Church of Christ, Congregational of Suffield. We've finished scanning this too!
5. Photos and other ephemera from our collection. Not a large or particularly impressive collection of pictures relative to collections we have included on other CD-ROMs we've published, but still some views of old Suffield that will be unfamiliar to many. As noted above, we're also including higher resolution copies of the pictures from the main Suffield book for greater ease in copying, should you wish to do so. How can I obtain the Suffield CD-ROM? When will it be available? It's available now for $17.50! To purchase it on line, simply click the "Add to shopping cart" button below.
