We own a number of Maine titles and will be publishing them over the next year or two. As well, we continue to actively acquire Maine material, so this list is likely to grow.CURRENTLY AVAILABLE:Maine State Prison Report for 1907.60 pages +

Westbrook, Maine: Resident and Business Directory for 1888.131 pages. This directory, by Emmons and Bonser, is a fine directory of a Cumberland County community that has changed much between the date of publication and the present. We're also including a topographical map of roughly the time this directory was published as well as one of the 1950s -- what a difference! It's
NOW AVAILABLE! Please
NOW IN PROGRESS:Nothing's in progress for Maine right now! Let us know what you would like to see us produce next!
TITLES WE OWN, AWAITING RE-PUBLICATION:Semi-Annual Register of Magistrates of the State of Maine.A comprehensive collection for June 1, 1890 through December 1, 1899, originally published at six month intervals. Lists Trial Justices, Notaries Public, and Justices of the Peace for the entire state of Maine. We'll publish this one following the Maine State Prison Report, likely in mid-2006.
Town of Raymond Annual Report for 1907.51 pages. While this is a short document, it is filled with genealogical information. As well as listing all taxpayers (including absent ones), everyone the Town paid during the year, all town officials, and a variety of other lists of names, this includes all births, marriages and deaths for the year. For the deaths, it even includes names of parents.
Town of Raymond Annual Report for 1908-9.48 pages. Similar to the Report for 1907, but, obviously, a year later. Births, marriages, deaths, taxes, payees of welfare benefits, etc. We will probably group these two Town of Raymond items on a single CD-ROM.
Town of Baldwin Annual Report for 1936.61 pages. Another Maine town annual report, again filled with useful genealogical information -- particularly names.
History of Oriental Chapter No. 30, Royal Arch Masons.by Norman H. Libby. (1909). 109 pages. The history of this lodge, which was located in Bridgton, covers the period from 1868 to 1909. As might be expected, it is full of the names of those who were members and particularly those who held office. It's useful from a genealogical viewpoint in that it provides death dates for all members who had died by the time the book was written.
Annual Report of the Town of Kennebunk for 1921-22.74 pages of text reports, plus 34 additional pages of vital records, tax rolls, etc. This is the only Kennebunk item in our collection so far, so it will likely stay unpublished until we locate a companion for it on a CD-ROM. Let us know if you want to see this soon -- it is large enough to make a CD by itself it people want to see it.
History of Garland, Maine.by Lyndon Oak. 401+ pages, including an index; published in 1912. This is a very complete history of this Penobscot County town, written by a resident who was also a State legislator. It's very readable, yet filled with details and names. We will prioritize its publication based on what we hear from YOU!
Life and Work of James G. Blaineby John Clark Ridpath, Gen. Selden Connor, and others. (1893). 505 pages. The election campaign doggerel said of him "Blaine, Blaine, James G. Blaine/the continental liar from the State of Maine/Burn this letter!" However, you won't find that rhyme in this book, prepared by his supporters. We're thinking that we need to bring this out before the next Presidential election. Tell us what you think!
Directory of Bangor and Brewer, Maine for 1923-1924.571 pages. We think this will be a useful addition to our Maine list, but we're interested in hearing what YOU think. Does this sound like something you could use in your research? Let us know!
Memorials of Maine: a Life Record of Men and Women of the PastCompiled by Augustus Freedom Moulton, 1916. 415 pages, including index. Biographies, including portraits of some, and limited family histories of a number of Maine notables. We'll post a list of the individuals included eventually. If you have a particular name you're interested in please let us know. We're glad to let you know if your person is included.
The Maine BookBy Henry E. Dunnack, Librarian of the Maine State Library, 1920. 338+ pages, including index. This is a wonderful survey of Maine's history and Maine and its institutions were early in the 20th century. Particularly helpful for genealogists and family historians will be the sections on such institutions as the Maine School for Girls and the various Maine State Hospitals as these "institutional biographies" provide important information about the way the institutions were viewed "back then" -- without the politically correct gloss of today. Likewise important will be the sections on Maine newspapers, religious societies, and industries. All in all, a very useful background book for anyone researching in Maine.
With the exception of the State Prison report and the Westbrook Directory for 1888 (which are already available), we have not set publication target dates for these CD-ROMs yet. Check back frequently to see when we will be producing each of them. If you have a strong interest in seeing one or more of them, please do let us know about it! We published the State Prison report first because we thought it was the most interesting and is certainly the most unusual Maine item we own, but the Register of Magistrates is potentially very useful as well, covering as it does a full decade. The town reports are a wealth of information about people. An easy way to stay current with what we're working on and what new is available is to join our mailing list.
